System update: From 3 p.m. Thursday, April 9 to 3 a.m. Saturday, April 11 the following services may be affected:
  • License applications and renewals for all license types in all states.
    • Appointment transactions.
    • This outage affects transactions in both NIPR and Sircon.
  • NIPR transactions will be available again the morning of April 10.
  • Sircon transactions will be available again the morning of April 11.

Effective 1/9/2026 – If your State Fire Marshal license/permit has expired and you do not have another active license/permit on file with us, you must submit new fingerprint information before the license/permit can be renewed or reinstated.

News and updates

  • SFMO’s licenses and registrations for individuals and companies are now only sent by email to the email address on file. Paper licenses and pocket cards are no longer provided.
  • Some fire protection companies and licensees are dealing with supply chain shortages. SFMO provides guidance.
  • SFMO sends fire-industry license renewal notices by email 90 days before the expiration date. Learn how to update an email address for official communications.
